Project Sports Fitness and Recreation

Fun Activities and Programs for youths that will help you to Keep Active, Stay Fit, and make smart choices for Healthy Living.

Triple Play Program

TRIPLE PLAY is a program that is run in our Health and Fitness rotation each day, is a game plan for the Mind, Body, and Soul. It is a dynamic new B&G Club initiative that demonstrates how eating right, keeping fit, and forming positive relationships adds up to a healthy lifestyle for Club members.

It teaches our youth how to understand nutrition and make better food choices. It also engages our members in daily physical activities for the health of their growing bodies while demonstrating the fun in staying fit.

SWOOSH Club

This group is a teen leadership group that promotes fitness, sports and potential athletics-related careers in B&G Clubs. Members meet on a regular basis to learn about issues inside and outside their Club related to sports and fitness. SWOOSH Club members ages 13-18 serve as referees, coaches, or in other athletic department support roles.

SWOOSH Club is sponsored by Nike.

Basketball League

Playing Basketball with the B&G Clubs of Rutherford County will be a positive experience for you and your child. This league emphasizes learning basic skills along with fair play, honesty and sportsmanship.

We make it a priority to place each child with a Coach who cares about having fun and learning more than the points on the scoreboard.

Baseball/Softball

Our beautiful baseball fields, made possible through a grant from the Christy Houston Foundation, provide a great place to play ball in the Fall and Spring sandlot leagues. These leagues are co-ed, for ages 7-10, and provide a positive, relaxed atmosphere for children to learn the basics about being on a "real" team.

Arts and Crafts

Members participate in a weekly arts & crafts activity that compliments the learning theme for the week.

National Digital Arts Festivals

Combining technology and art attracts members to tech centers, exposing them to creative uses for technology, including potential career interests. Programs also prepare members to enter the Digital Arts Festivals that run from September through May.

Competitions are in the areas of graphic design, photo illustration, web design, movie making, and music making. Members complete tutorials and participate in group sessions on how to use software and then develop their projects for our local competition.

The winners of our competition are entered regionally and then, if they win, nationally.

National Fine Arts Exhibit

Sponsored by L'Oreal, this program, which encourages creativity through a variety of media, is made up of local, regional and national exhibits. Young people are encouraged to create artwork in any of the following categories: monochromatic drawing, multicolored drawing, pastels, water color, oil or acrylic, print making, mixed media, collage and sculpture. The most outstanding works are sent on for regional judging; selected regional artwork goes on for national judging. Artwork selected by national judges is displayed at B&GCA's annual National Conference.

Drama/Creative Movement

The Drama and Creative Movement troupes are for members ages 6-13. These children spend their time developing and rehearsing dramatic plays and skits, as well as choreographed movements to words and music. These groups typically perform together at special events.

Club Choir

A small group of Club members meet at the Academy of Music & Drama with Diane Austin weekly to rehearse a variety of musical selections. Members perform at concerts and also special events. This group is audition only.
